Shirakabasanso - "ふんいきのより、さんそう で たべる、 あっさり ラーメン"

Shirakabasanso

For our next Ramen club meeting we went to "Shirakabasanso". This ramen shop has a very good reputation and is well known in Hokkaido. This particular ramen shop has several shops in Hokkaido.

Inside the shop there was a forest! These trees are where the Ramen Shop gets its name. Where as Americans know them as White Birch, in Japan they are called Shirakaba. Everyone agreed that this provided a very relaxing atmosphere.

The ramen soup was well balanced with a simple flavor and pleasing aroma. The soup had a delicate blend of vegetables and meat that mixed well together and complimented the overall taste.

This ramen shop may become a top favorite of the group.

Kohaku - ”みせ は きれい だ が 、 あじ は こい”

Kohaku

For the first Ramen Club meeting we went to a ramen shop that was very close to the church. Having heard rumors from friends that this new place was not good, we wanted to inspect it and see for ourselves.

For most of the evening we had the whole place to ourselves. This is not surprising as this shop has large windows in the front of the store and usually looks empty. Being the only ones there, we had great service. For instance, we had frequent water refills for our cups.

We needed frequent refills for our cups because of this particular Ramen soup was very salty. My friends kept saying the word "Koi". The verdict of this ramen was that the soup was too salty and too strong to be ranked high. It was not terrible, but nothing in it praiseworthy.

Nevertheless we had a fun time, being ramen judges is a lot of fun!
